There is before COVID & after COVID, and the reality is there will be no going back to the ways of working before COVID.
We will need to recognize the need for change and this change must be driven by data, every digital touchpoint can be translated into a data-point.
The quicker you understand your data the quicker you will be able to manage through the “here and now” of today’s challenges.
The trick is to make this data understanding part of the organisations daily/weekly/monthly sharing across all business departments. The data to be shared must be tested, trusted, and validated. A great tool for this is from Tableau and their DRI (Data Readiness Index).
It is all about balance, but it is critical to use Facts over Instincts.
The pressure will continue to build, and it is driven today by how quickly you can operate at scale in the New Normal, versus your original long-term goals, which undoubtedly will have changed.
Step 1
Do what you need to do to keep your business afloat, by using meaningful data the easier this task becomes.
Step 2
Your house in order, the focus must be on your customers, without them you have nothing. You will need to be agile, think on your feet and forget the old ways of working and you will need a strong data culture.
If you have this strong data culture, when you see the light at the end of this COVID tunnel you will be ready to drive forward. You will be on the journey to What Good Looks Like (WGL2) for your business
