I am always on the lookout for real-life examples of What Good Looks Like in various businesses and industries. Finding companies who are doing things right is an inspiration and can help me translate their practices to my own consulting business. I recently had the pleasure of visiting K-LOG Park, Kamadjaja Logistics’ one-stop logistics park. Kamadjaja is a company that knows What Good Looks Like.
Clear thought, good planning, and hard work have allowed Kamadjaja to present themselves as a premier provider of Supply Chain Services. I only had the opportunity to visit the Cibitung operation K-LOG Park, but Kamadjaja is, however, a national logistics provider in Indonesia, with some 22 distribution centres in 15 cities, and over 300 ship-to-destination points nationwide.
The K-LOG Park facility sits on 18 hectares of land, and the plan is to make this operation a “one-stop logistics solution under one roof”. Easily accessible from 3 highways (JORR 1, JORR 2, and the under-construction Cikampek JORR 2, which will connect directly with Tanjung Priok Port), K-LOG Park is strategically located to provide fast, efficient, and professional logistics services. Kamadjaja’s integrated approach allows their customers access to a wide variety of services, including international and domestic freight, container yards, dedicated distribution centres, and transportation hubs.
Any opportunity to reduce the logistics costs in Indonesia, which are in the 24% to 27% of GDP range, will be welcomed by industry. Internal case studies carried out at K-LOG Park have shown improvements of more than 60% in lead times and an increase in productivity of 50% or more. This type of “one-stop shop” approach is certainly a step in the right direction. Offering a range of logistics services gives customers the chance to streamline their supply chain and increase efficiency across the board. Kamadjaja Logistics is a great example of what businesses should be striving for and I am excited to see how they continue to grow and improve.
